Caswell: 2

So Caswell posts will be numerous, and not all together. I don't have that much room or time! There were tons of things I learned this week at Caswell. Like I said, great week. But there was this story that the speaker told that really hit home to me... because I used to do the very thing he was talking about. So, I'll try to paraphrase it here.

Our speaker's name was Chad and he has a two year old son named Shepherd. Shepherd has a lot of stuffed animals, and like any two year old, he has stuffed animal categories. There are the stuffed animals that he plays with occasionally and the chosen few that he really loves and sleeps with. His main two are a wolf pup named Dog and a rat whose name I can't remember. But anyway, first thing in the morning, his son wakes up and starts yelling 'Daddy! Daddy!' and when Chad goes in, the first thing Shepherd does is hold out Dog for him to kiss, and second the rat. Then when he gets up, he takes Dog with him. Everywhere. To breakfast, to play, in the car, through the grocery store, you name it. Dog is there. Dog takes part in all of the various events in two-year-old Shepherd's life. Then at night, when Shepherd goes to bed, Dog goes with him. Chad has the same expectation to kiss the animals goodnight as he does good morning. Shepherd tucks Dog in and makes sure that he is well covered. Shepherd also gets the rat and makes sure he is covered and kissed goodnight.

We treat God one of these two ways. God is either our morning and night time friend, or ever-present and part of everything we do. So many times, we pray when we wake up in the morning, maybe even do a quiet time. Then we leave God there, and don't think a single thing about Him until the very end of the day, when we're laying in bed, and we say our prayers, most of the time out of habit. God's so much bigger than that. He wants us to make Him the very center of who we are, to make Him a part of every single thing we do. To run to Him FIRST when we're hurting or upset. To let Him love us and hold us and heal us. He wants us to talk to Him, to tell Him about our day... He won't be bored by it... He cares about every single detail. God created us, down to our very last fiber, and we're HIS. HE loves us and wants the best for us. And it's really quite simple... He is the best!

Love,
Legs♥
