Thumbelina(:

I absolutely love the movie Thumbelina. The impossible love story. She assumes that there's no one out there for her, no one 'her size'. And one day she's just dancing around her room, dreaming the dreams that all girls dream, and BAM! The impossible happens and Prince Cornelius shows up at her window. She knows she loves him and eventually wants to marry him, but there's this disgusting frog she has to deal with first. Apparently, he has fallen in love with her! And for what reason? She has no idea. But he does everything within his power to get Thumbelina to marry him. He even goes so far as to steal her! And then, he leaves her alone, and she meets the kind hearted swallow who, with the help of some fish and the jitterbugs, helps her to avoid floating on a lily pad right over a waterfall! She's lost, and alone, and afraid. Then she meets this beetle. The beetle wants her to come and sing and dance with him, and so she does. He turns out to be a total jerk to her and ends up calling her ugly and abandoning her. Jerkface. Then, if she doesn't have it bad enough, winter is starting to set in and she's freezing cold! So she finds this old shoe and sock and hides in it, only to be found by a field mouse. Mrs. Field Mouse is really nice and takes her down into her house, feeds her, and also introduces her to Thumbelina's next big problem: the mole! The dang mole, who lives underground with absolutely NO sunlight, wants to marry her now. During this whole wondering around time, Cornelius has fallen into the lake and been frozen, and found by the beetle and the frog. So Thumbelina hears through the grapevine that Cornelius is dead! OH NO! So she considers marrying the mole. She considers it so much that she gets to the alter before she decides to say no! Goodness, close call. But then, after all that, the swallow finally gets her to the place of the fairies and she finds Cornelius and finally marries him, the best happy ending ever.

So what did this teach me? That sometimes, you have to go through a lot of crap before you find your true love. That there's always hope, no matter how bad it seems. That even someone who thinks that they have everything going against them still has hope of love someday. That... "You're sure to do impossible things if you follow your heart. Your dreams will fly on magical wings when you follow your heart." ♥
